INTRO TO WEB DEVELOPMENT (HTML/CSS)

This is an introductory web development course. The course will lead students to gain a good understanding of HTML along with how to leverage CSS to style web pages and improve user experiences. After this course, students will be able to create and maintain quality static web pages. The knowledge gained in this course will be a prerequisite for the other three courses of the series (Interactive Web Development using Javascript and jQuery, Intro to .NET MVC Web Development, and Advanced .NET MVC Web Development).

Outcomes:

  1. Learn how web pages are developed and displayed by the browser

  2. Master core concepts in HTML and CSS

  3. Gain understanding of the relationship between HTML and CSS

  4. Learn best practices commonly used in the workplace

INTERACTIVE WEB DEVELOPMENT USING JAVASCRIPT AND JQUERY

September 19th - October 5th, Mondays and Wednesdays 6-8pm

This course will lead students to gain a good understanding of how to use JavaScript and jQuery to create interactive web pages. After this course, students will be able to create highly interactive, dynamic web pages. Attendees should have a firm understanding of HTML and CSS prior to attending this class (Introduction to web development offered prior to this course).

Outcomes:

  1. Understand how JavaScript and HTML work together to provide a rich user experience

  2. Learn the fundamentals of JavaScript and jQuery

  3. Understand how JavaScript and jQuery are executed by the browser

  4. Dynamically change HTML based on certain user events

 


INTRO TO .NET MVC WEB DEVELOPMENT

September 13th - october 11th, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm

The course will lead students to gain a solid understanding of how to use ASP.NET MVC to create robust web applications. After this course, students will be able to create full form web applications. Prior to taking this class, students should have a firm understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript (other classes are offered to provide this knowledge set).

Outcomes:

  1. Know and understand how to configure and use the .NET development environment (Visual Studio)

  2. Understand the MVC architecture

  3. Be proficient in using the Razor View Engine

  4. Learn how to create and add to a “code first” database

  5. Efficiently pass data from MVC controllers to MVC views


ADVANCED .NET MVC WEB DEVELOPMENT

October 18th - november 15th, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm

This is an advanced web development course. The course will expand on students’ understanding of how to use ASP.NET MVC to create robust web applications. After this course, students will be able to create professional level web applications. Students should have a firm understanding of the .NET development environment and MVC .NET web development. (3 other courses are offered to provide the base knowledge set).

Outcomes:

  1. You should be able to leverage the MVC architecture in much more complex ways

  2. You will be able to create web service endpoints that can provide dynamic data to any front-end (you can make one service that supports your website and mobile apps at the same time)

  3. You will gain a strong understanding of Entity Framework

  4. You will learn industry MVC best practices.

INTRODUCTION TO DATA ANALYSIS AND FORCASTING

September 7th - September 28th, Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:30PM

This course focuses on optimization analytics of customer or product data to forecast resource necessities and business trends. Students will learn how to use JMP software along with Microsoft Excel to analyze data sets with range of variable types, and build regressions to help forecast.

Outcomes:

  1. A better understanding of variable types of data

  2. The ability to identify the correct method to use when analyzing particular variable types

  3. Forecast trends with 90-95% confidence

INTERNSHIPS 101
